The Robots of Dawn by Isaac Asimov is the third novel in the author's science fiction Robot series, and a follow-up to the novels The Caves of Steel and The Naked Sun. Originally published in 1983, it is a locked-room mystery that continues the story of detective Elijah Baley and his robot partner, R. Daneel Olivaw. 
 
In The Robots of Dawn, Earth detective Elijah Baley is sent to the Spacer world of Aurora to investigate a case of "roboticide"—the death of the positronic brain of a sophisticated humaniform robot named R. Jander Panell. 
The prime suspect is Dr. Han Fastolfe, a respected roboticist who designed both the deceased robot and Baley's partner, R. Daneel Olivaw.
Fastolfe, an influential political leader on Aurora, is a key proponent of a faction that supports Earth's right to participate in galactic colonization.
His political rivals are using the crime to discredit him, so Baley must clear Fastolfe's name.
During his investigation, Baley reunites with Gladia Delmarre, the owner of the murdered robot and a character from The Naked Sun.
Baley and Daneel must navigate the complex and politically charged society of Aurora to find the truth, uncovering a plot with major consequences for the future of humanity.
