The Dragon and The George by Gordon R. Dickson is the first book in the fantasy comedy series The Dragon Knight, which features a modern man who is magically transported into the body of a dragon. While it was written in the 1970s, the book is considered a lighthearted fantasy classic that is still enjoyed today. The story is also notable for its loose adaptation in the 1982 animated movie The Flight of Dragons

The novel follows Jim Eckert, a mild-mannered man from the modern world who is magically sent to a land filled with mythical creatures to rescue his fiancée, Angie. Unfortunately, Jim's consciousness gets trapped inside the body of a dragon named Gorbash. He must then navigate a bizarre, medieval world where dragons call humans "Georges" and magic runs on an inscrutable system of logic.
